Why Meeting Rhythms are Important in I.T.

Every office or workspace has its own groove.

It can be like a slow dance, intentional and diligent, or more like a line dance, structured and team-focused. No matter what kind of dance your systems or process emulates, there needs to be a rhythm. We would like to talk with you today about how Attentus Technologies has incorporated “meeting rhythms” over the past 20 years into our day-to-day operations and how much more productive we are by performing this type of planning. We want to help our customers learn this amazing skill and explain why meeting rhythms are a valuable component you can use in your business every day.

A consistent, fully integrated meeting rhythm prevents certain tasks from falling through the cracks and ensures all employee responsibilities are clear. We have also found that keeping meeting rhythms when we work with clients creates more trust and a superior end result.

What do we mean by Meeting Rhythms?

A rhythm, by definition, is a “strong, regular, repeated pattern of movement or sound.” Think of a heartbeat – it beats consistently in order to push blood out (actions and activity) and enables your body to be functional. In your own work environment, daily tasks need a regular heartbeat. These daily tasks are important in ensuring your employees do not lose faith in you. This can be represented in a timely payroll, maintenance, and more.

Your meeting rhythm will change depending on the task or project. Projects all have different meeting rhythms with the same end goal of completing the tasks within a time period. This highlights the importance of each project – the more important, the tighter the cadence of that meeting rhythm should be. For example, if a highly important project that must be completed within the next 3 days is your responsibility, there needs to be a check-in every 3 hours to avoid ambiguity and stay productive.

As an I.T. company, we find that updating our clients about what we found, our progress, and our next steps is incredibly important to establish a trusting relationship. So, finding that heartbeat will help put energy into taking action on a regular cadence to ensure it is completed. It also enforces accountability on you and your team.
